male head tutorial (ft. jun)

As per request from @ventis_left.toe on TikTok, here is a tutorial on drawing male heads! (I personally still have a lot to learn when it comes to drawing masculine characters, so this guide may change.)

First is the basic head and neck structure. Starting with the standard circle/line combo, create a slightly longer head shape. The neck may be thicker or thinner depending on the character (including the neck muscles and shoulders). Finally, the ears should be located near the end of the jawline.

When drawing, be sure to accentuate the “curve” of the jawline and define the chin (make it more realistic and less pointed) to help form the head structure.

When shading, put extra emphasis on the region under the brow bone and cheek hollow, although this is largely due to personal preference. Otherwise, when I draw male characters, I tend to use more contrast when shading the face, especially for the nose.

I hope this tutorial was helpful! Please feel free to ask any questions!
